I got together this past
weekend with several other women journalists. Most of those in attendance were
former journalists and the rest were still in the biz, ever faithfully cranking
out copy on deadline.
The event, a Social
SecuriTEA for a now 65-year-old NY Times/Press Democrat correspondent was the
perfect opportunity for all of us to commiserate, compare notes and
congratulate each other for having used our brains and instincts both to
generate copy worth reading. Following the afternoon
affair, I did some research – “for fun” and found an assortment of job postings
for journalists of all sizes and shapes.
Here are a few:
General
Assignment Reporter: The Gettysburg
Times, PA. Full-time. Strong writing
skills, outgoing, and able to work a flexible schedule. Send
resume and clips: ahayes@gburgtimes.com
or Alex J. Hayes, c/o Gettysburg Times, PO Box 3669, Gettysburg,
PA 17325.
No phone calls, please. Deadline: June 5
Before you send
that resume, make sure you are familiar with important industry terms.
