Clear Public Relations Words
Those of us in public relations know how rewarding it is to
string words together in a way that generates acceptance and understanding from
others. It can also be fun. And frustrating when the words just don’t come
together or come together in a way that does more harm than good.
So here’s a list of word resources we found recently in a PR
Daily.com article written by Laura Hale Brockway that suggests there is a way
to keep yourself word-ready.
Here are a
few of our favorites:
A Word A Day
: For 20 years, the wordsmith.org online service has been emailing a word a day
to subscribers all over the world. The New York Times has called the service “the most welcomed,
most enduring piece of daily mass e-mail in cyberspace.”
Oxford
English Dictionary
(one of our college favorites). Even the
world’s most definitive dictionary has word-of-the-day offerings. The OED word
for May 7, 2015, was gallantry show.
