Listen, Laugh, Learn

PR PODCASTS

As this year begins to wind down and holidays gear up, what better time to catch our collective public relations breaths, right?

One of the most interesting suggestions we’ve come across have to do with Gini Dietrich’s list of podcasts that can help make us laugh, learn and live.

We first came across her list on Ragan’s PR Daily and were pleasantly surprised to see that we already enjoy some of the options on the list.

We also had to admit that at first glance, we were surprised by a few of the suggestions, especially the first one which is, in essence, a radio game show based upon the news of the day.

Don’t get us wrong, we like that particular podcast but hadn’t seen it in the public relations lense she offers.

Here are three of the podcasts she mentions:
"Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!" This NPR-produced (and Chicago-based) podcast is hosted by Peter Segal and Bill Kurtis, and has a panel of three or four comedians. They take the news from the week to create games, contests, and pure hilarity. If you’re not into watching or reading the news, but still want to keep up on current events, this is a very entertaining way to do it.
"Media Bullseye Roundtable." Hosted by Chip Griffin of CustomScoop, this podcast is a little bit irreverent and a lot informative. They welcome guests such as Kevin Anselmo, Mark Story, Doug Haslam, and other leaders in the communications industry, Chip tackles the tough topics with a wicked twinkle in his eye (which you can’t see because itss radio, but you’ll find out what I mean).
“Inside PR." This podcast is co-hosted by Joe Thornley, Martin Waxman, and me. We talk about everything from current events, crisis communications, social media, reputation management, and where it all meets and intersects.
